We will be keeping an eye on the path that Tropical Storm Erica takes, as this will affect the availability of our Fresh Grouper, Mahi Mahi & Red Snapper.
2) Here are some Locally Harvested Species; Swordfish, Albacore Tuna, Mako Shark, Sea Scallops, Striped Bass, Fluke/Flounder, Hake, Hard & Soft-Shell Crabs, Clams, Oysters, Bluefish, Monkfish, Skate, Squid, Mackerel & Porgies.
3) The quality & availability of our Long Line Swordfish, Mako Shark, Albacore & Yellow fin Tuna should be outstanding due to the boats returning to the dock from fishing off the full moon that is occurring Saturday, August 29th. Prices of our Bay Colony IQF Sashimi Grade Center Cut Tuna Loins, Saku Blocks & pre-cut Steaks continue to remain stable.
4) Salmon-the fresh farmed & wild markets remain an Excellent Center of the Plate value!!!
5) Sea Scallops-landings in the US are comparable to last year but well below expected levels; causing dock prices to remain high.
6) Prices on Live Hard-Shell Lobsters remain high due to limited supplies & increased demand for the Labor Day holiday.
7) Wild Striped Bass availability has slightly improved as we are procuring high quality 2-4 fish from Maryland.
8) Hopefully Fresh Fluke (the premier member of the Flounder family) prices will come down some now that New Jersey is scheduled to reopen this Sunday, August 30th.
9) Ground Fish offerings of Cod, Hake & Pollock from the North Atlantic US & Canada have remained consistent. Haddock offerings have been more sporadic.
10) Prices of Wild, Domestic Shrimp (Raw Shell-on, P&D & Pieces) continue to drop as supplies & inventories are very strong. I predict the lower prices of the domestic will keep asking prices for the new season Mexican product in line.
